ALAN PEACOCK WINS STREET STOCK SUMMER SIZZLER
The sun broke through the clouds as fans and drivers packed into the speedway for a night of
spectacular
racing and fun. Age’s 0 to 12, got to participant in a box car event on the front straight away during
intermission, which proven to be a big success. The event was hands down the best feature of the
night, as
the children paraded and raced there cars for a win. Best Show were as follow: Jayden Cole (9
months),
Jacob Comitale (5), AJ Dumas (9), Dustin Peterson (10). Winners of the event: Savannah Hall (3),
Morgan Blackwelder (6), Josh Prathen (8), Christopher Hatton (12). All the participants received a
well
deserved trophy for their efforts. The race car drivers got their chance to cheer on the
participants as they
stood on the sidelines encouraging all that participated. Special thanks to Ashley Espy, Allen Espy
& Rick
Scott for judging, Best Show, as all the cars were wonderful and it was a difficult task.
The rescheduled Summer Sizzler was won by Alan “Stick” Peacock. Robert Hicks jumped to the
earlier
lead but was soon over taken by Grady Christian. It was a 3 & 4 wide battled, as cars swapped
paint, bent
fenders, racing for positions. Peacock, Kevin Durdin, Patrick Williams, Chuck McHone, Jeff Terrell,
Chad
Scranton and George Richards put on a fierce battle, changing positions, running full throttle
ahead of the
field, sat on Christian’s bumper. Peacock & Durdin pulled up on Christian making it a 3 way side
by side
race for 1st. Christian maintained the lead until lap 39 of 40, as Peacock was going for the low
groove,
Christian using the high, they touched, Christian spun put did a 360 continued racing and
Peacock took the
checkered flag and the win for $2,500. Top Ten: Alan Peacock, Kevin Durdin, Patrick Williams,
Chuck
McHone, Jeff Terrell, Grady Christian, Chad Scranton, George Richards, Mick Kulak, Heinz Haas
Danny Lunn won the 4-Cylinder Feature event along with the $100 purse. Tim Shull took the early
lead
until lap 8, when Lunn took over. Lunn was short lived as Ashley Espy bringing along Dean
Woodard split
him making it a 3 wide battled for 1st. Woodard took the lead only to be continually assaulted by
Espy &
Lunn. Lunn powered to the lead with Ashley Espy and her father, Allen Espy in tow on the white
flag lap,
holding on for the win. Top Ten: Danny Lunn, Ashley Espy, Allen Espy, Dean Woodard, James
Foster,
Jamie Anderson, Greg Bryson, RJ Glaser, Ron Pal, David Wolf.
Travis “The Terror” Staats won another RBC Bank Mini Stock Feature. It was a green to
checkered win for
“The Terror”, as Benita Allman, Dan Kerr, Charlie Staats along with the field tried everything to
unnerve
the leader but the younger Staats would have none of it, holding on for another win. Top Ten:

Staats, Dan Kerr, Charlie Staats, Tommy Saunders, Richard Keith, Donnie Nobles, Benita Allman,
Eddie
Johnson, Rodney Wright
It was a green to checkered win for Scott Nelson in The Sportsmen Feature. Nelson broke out to
an early
lead as Ken Hall Sr, Shaun Daugharty, Bobby Richardson and Corey Holley battled 4 wide on his
bumper
for 2nd. Steve Branton, Tim Miller, Donnie Birdwell battled 3 wide changing positions continually
as the
caught up to the lead pack. Holley pulled down on Nelson for the top spot, spun as Nelson pulled
ahead and
took the win. Top Ten: Scott Nelson, Shaun Daugharty, Bobby Richardson, Ken Hall Sr, Ken Hall
Jr,
Donnie Birdwell, Steve Branton, Tim Miller, Corey Holley
Jimmy Carter wins his first Budweiser Modified Feature of the 2008 season. It was a 4 wide jump
for the
top spot as Charlie MacNichol took the lead. Jimmy Carter, Jason Davis, Larry Burkins settled on
MacNichol's bumper. Davis held the hammer down as he dove down low taking over the lead on
lap 4.
Jamie Carter made his way to the front putting the pressure on Davis for the top spot. Davis shut
down all
contenders as he used the track up for advantage. Jamie Carter and Dale Murray were plagued
with car
troubles causing them to pit for the night. Jimmy Carter tried high then low riding the side and
bumper of
Davis for the lead position. Carter powered past Davis with two laps to go and held on tight until
the
checkered was dropped. Top Ten: Jimmy Carter, Jason Davis, Charlie MacNichol, Larry Burkins,
Allen
Reynolds, Rick Scott, Richard Dickinson, Alan Thomas, Larry Mott, Chuck Gustafson.
