Lexington, Michigan (Monday, June 30, 2008): After taking some time off to regroup, the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts will roar back to life and help celebrate the Fourth of July Weekend!
The wicked fast high-banks of I-70 (MO) Speedway, located East of Kansas City in Odessa, Missouri is the site for what is now the fourth race of the 2008 racing season, the extended distance Light Up The Night 150 as the cars and stars of the ASALMS Northern Division will help celebrate the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend in the Show-Me State!
On Saturday, July 5, 2008, the famed 0.543 Mile High-Banked Paved Oval will host an extended distance 150-lap Feature with caution laps counting up to Lap 140. The last 10 laps will be run under green flag conditions!
Joining the ASALMS Northern Division stars over the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend will be the I- 70 Speedway Dash Cars and Enduro Divisions and a Gigantic Fireworks Display in honor of our nations’ 232nd Birthday.

The night before on Friday, July 4, 2008 will be a Practice Day for the ASALMS Northern Division teams while the companion I-70 Speedway Dirt Track will also be in action with the KMMO Presents the “Redneck Light Up The Night Spectacular.”
Farm Trucks, Mad Fears Figure 8s, Sport Compacts, and IMCA Sport Mods will be on the track as the first of two consecutive nights of Fireworks will highlight the Friday evening action. The SMRS Midgets and DCRA Mod Lites will run on Saturday night as well at the conclusion of all asphalt racing!
“I-70 Speedway has always been and will continue to be an integral part of the ASALMS and will always be a part of the ASALMS family.” Stated ASALMS Co-Founder / President, Ron Varney. “Brad MacDonald is not only a great Promoter, but a good friend as well and we’re very proud to be going back to I-70 twice once again in 2008!” Varney added.
The Light Up The Night 150 will be the first of two stops for the ASALMS at the Odessa, Missouri speed plant as the second and final race of the 2008 season in the Show-Me State will once again feature the cars and stars of the ASALMS Northern and Southern Divisions colliding head on in one of the biggest races of the season.
The ASALMS Northern and Southern Divisions will go head to head and headline the annual World Cup Weekend in Odessa, Missouri with the running of the North VS South Shootout / World Cup 200 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 19-20-21, 2008.
Also running during World Cup weekend will be the I-70 Speedway support divisions of Super Trucks, Dash Cars, Super Stocks, and Enduro Cars, who will all be conducting their 2008 Season Championships on that Saturday night.
The North VS South Shootout / World Cup 200 Entry Form will be available beginning on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.
As an added bonus during World Cup Weekend, the Dirt Track will also be in action all weekend beginning with a $1,000 to Win Open Modifieds race, plus Street Stocks, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA B-Mods, and IMCA Sport Mods on Friday.
On Saturday of World Cup Weekend, a Run What You Brung Special for all cars as well as a Non- Winged Sprint Car Showdown Season Points Championship will be run. Finally on Sunday immediately after the ASALMS North VS South Shootout, the dirt track comes back to life one more time with an ULMA Dirt Late Model Special
“The two ASALMS races at “America’s Fastest Weekly Race Track” every year are always two of the biggest races of the season.” Added I-70 Speedway Promoter, Brad MacDonald. “I can’t wait for these two shows. To see our I-70 Late Models going against some of the biggest stars in the country is definitely something I look forward to every season.” MacDonald added.
The ASALMS has made six overall appearances at the Odessa, Missouri speed plant since the 2005 season as 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Champion, Trent Snyder and Medina, Ohio veteran, Jack Smith leads the way with Two Feature Wins apiece.
Drivers picking up single wins in the Show-Me State include Landon Cassill, now running in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Hendrick Motorsports. 2005 winner in the inaugural ASALMS race at I-70, Jason Dietsch also adorns the winner list.
In addition, Smith holds down the overall ASALMS track record, which is a 16.296. Smith’s lap equals out to a very quick 119.956 MPH.
The I-70 Speedway Dirt Track, located directly behind the pavement grandstands, features a regular racing program of IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, Farm Trucks, and Sport Compacts
The Dirt track races every Friday night with Specials to be held on select Saturday Nights prior to the Asphalt Track Features. As an added bonus, on those special nights when both tracks will be running, one ticket will buy you access to both tracks events for an action packed evening of racing.
The 2008 season on the pavement side features a full show of I-70 Late Models division, modeled after the ASALMS Northern and Southern Divisions, as the premiere division at the famed high- banks on Saturday nights. In addition, the I-70 Super Trucks, Super Stocks, Dash Cars, and Enduro Cars are also part of the Regular Racing Program.
